NTFS Permission Management Use Cases

Key Features and Use Cases:
Access Matrix Reporting
Use Case: The IT team needs to identify all folders that user "john.smith" has access to. FolSec generates a detailed matrix showing the permission levels for each directory.
Temporary Permission Assignment
Use Case: A project consultant needs write access to the “ProjectX” folder for 24 hours. FolSec allows the request to be approved and sets an automatic expiration.
Permission Request Workflow
Use Case: A user requests read access to the “HR” folder. The request is routed through an approval workflow, and access is granted once approved.
AD Group Permission Review
Use Case: The security team needs to verify which groups have access to the "Finance" folder. FolSec generates a report listing AD groups and their access types.
NTFS Permission Backup and Restore
Use Case: Before a major reorganization of the directory structure, the admin creates a backup of all permissions. In case of an error, the original permissions can be restored.
Permission Clone
Use Case: A new user joins the team and needs the exact same permissions as an existing team member. FolSec clones the permissions from the source user to the new user across all relevant folders.
Permission Move
Use Case: A user changes departments. FolSec removes permissions from the old department folders and assigns appropriate permissions in the new department folders in a single operation.
Disabled Users & Orphaned SID Cleanup
Use Case: The system administrator wants to identify and remove NTFS permissions associated with disabled accounts or orphaned SIDs. FolSec provides a detailed report and allows batch removal of such entries.
